Probably the most relevant for PMs in the highly prestigious “Project Of the Year” (POY) Award. This award focuses on delivering a significant project in a highly professional and innovative manner.

Submissions need to closely follow the selection process and criteria. Up to a 25 page submission and up to 10 pages of attachments is required by 27 January 2008. Download a PPT overview hereWhilst this may sound like a large amount of documentation, much of the standard doco for a Project can be “leveraged” and easily reformatted to meet the criteria ie the Project Charter doc, WBS etc. 

The selection process goes through a number of stages with the winner being announced at a major PMI international event (usually the Global Congress in North America each year – to which the Winner gets invited – includes air ticket, Congress registration & accommodation etc)

PMs are strongly encouraged to review the criteria and to “shape” their current Projects to position themselves to be a competitive bid for January 2008. The Chapter Award Convener and she can be contacted via awards@sydney.pmi.org.au
